Assembly: Ghazi Stadium
MATERIALS: Silkscreen and collage on paper.
This continuation of the Admit One drawings attempts to show a much larger public body than a theater or a cinema. This work shows a mid-sized stadium, Ghazi Stadium in Kabul, Afghanistan that seats 25,000 people. The image is made by arranging 25,000 admission tickets of different colors. This is a stadium that has been used for soccer games, traditional Afghani sports, parades, political rallies and public executions. This proposal for an alternative site of political exchange, admits that while inclusion is sanctioned, the empty stage invites possibilities for a wide variety of public address and that the audience always outnumbers the speaker on stage, players in the field, or prisoners in the gallows.
