MATERIALS: 66 bottles and rockets.

This piece is a collection of bottle rockets. There is one rocket and bottle pair for each one of my birthdays up to the centenary of my birth. The bottles are labeled with these dates. Whoever is the keeper of this piece has to remember to take the bottle outside on the right date and commemorate my launching the firework.  An empty bottle being returned to the group marks each act of remembrance, and an unfired rocket staying in the group records each lapse. This is a series that I have made for specific people, commemorating specific events in their lives. Most of these artworks exist as 'private' pieces; in the sense that what is being remembered is unique to each person.
